BREAKING NEWS
INDOOR LEAGUE SIDE TAKE LEAGUE TITLE

Two more victories for Hornsea not only kept them on course for a 100% record but also clinched the second division title as they are now eight points  ahead of second placed Rowntrees B with all teams in the division still having two games to play. The runaway leaders were pushed all the way by their nearest challengers before emerging with a 14 run victory in possibly their hardest game of the season. Hornsea’s free-scoring batsmen were kept to 75 off the first ten overs by a good all-round bowling performance with only Paul Johnson 29no reaching retirement. Other contributions came from Jason Hickey with 20 and James Phillips 21. Rowntrees opener Steve Crowder made his 25 but was unable to add to his score when returning in the final over and was unnecessarily run out by his partner off the final delivery. With Tony Thomson 24 and Chris Todd 25 making runs, an upset seemed possible but Rowntrees middle order then lost it’s way  and a requirement of 18 off the final over  proved to be too big an ask as only three runs were scored but a similar number of wickets lost. Ryan Kirk bowled a fine spell for the winners to earn figures of 3-11.
