LEAGUE : 1st XI BEAT GOOLE |
Hornsea had a good win at Goole Town where they
emerged victors by 3 wickets thanks to a fine
innings by Paul Clappison (95). Goole’s Indian
Guarav Kapoor took his aggregate to 472 before he
was dismissed for 40 whilst Neil Foster made 35.
Richard Medforth captured 3 for 41 as Goole totalled
178-8. Home spinner Dave England then proved to be a
tricky customer as he grabbed 6 for 48 but
Clappison’s effort won the day.

1st XI KNOCKOUT BUBWITH |
Bubwith were unable to span the divisional gap when
they entertained Hornsea and lost by 55 runs.
Hornsea’s batsmen made hay in the rural surroundings
with Jason Hickey 89, Paul Johnson 73 and Dan Dales
53 all hitting half centuries and Richard medforth
adding 33 in a total of 290-4. Bubwith made a decent
fist of their run chase with useful knocks coming
from Chris MacLaren with 34, Neil Pratt 28, Richard
Hunter 34 and Simon Lazenby 39. nevertheless the
bowling of sam Holliday with 3-55 and Kev Wilson 3
for 31 aided by an economic spell from Medforth
ensured a win for the coastal side as Bubwith were
dismissed for 235.

SECONDS BACK ON TOP |
| Hornsea went to the
top of the division, albeit by virtue of more outright
victories, when they defeated Yapham by 4 wickets as
former leaders Thorp arch & Boston Spa were yet another
side who were unable to capture the final wicket to
clinch an outright win. Sam Holliday was the pick of the
Hornsea attack as he claimed 5 for 57 whilst Dan Wilson
took 3 for 11 in an 8.1 over spell which ended Yapham’s
innings on 166. Both Dick Wright and Nigel west made 27.
Hornsea’s reply was fronted by Guy Martinson who made
an unbeaten 77 whilst Alex Yarnley made 35 to counter
the 3-38 tally of C Farey and Hornsea reached their
target for the loss of 6 wickets. |

“40 years of sport”. Boys will be dressed
as England’s 1966 world cup winning football
team, the Rugby Union world champions and
(obviously) as our 2005 Ashes heroes |
